2026-10-14 10:46:19 +00:00 | 2 commits to main since this releasesearchi 0.1.9 keeps stronger matches in the main list and puts weaker semantic neighbors in expandable Related suggestions. No filenames or queries are blacklisted; Google EmbeddingGemma 2 remains the local retrieval model. CLI and MCP share the classification and retain cited sources.
In the frozen small bilingual evaluation, absent-content queries showing a main hit fell from 16/16 to 4/16. All 16 positive requests retained expected sources within five accessible results, but only 10/16 had a correct first main result and five needed Related suggestions. This is a conservative presentation improvement, not perfect absence detection. Music/media search remains usable and experimental.
Includes the normal hardware-detecting Windows installer, Ubuntu 24.04 desktop preview, Linux headless archive and optional Windows CLI/MCP client with checksums. Windows installation preserved settings/index; actual packaged Windows/Linux CPU startup/search passed. Hardware GPU and native hotkey/tray/glass interaction are not qualified by these tests. Gitea Actions remain disabled.

2026-10-14 09:45:14 +00:00 | 4 commits to main since this releasesearchi 0.1.8 — a floating search bar for your files and apps
Press Ctrl + Shift + Space on Windows. Type to reveal results and previews;
Escape hides searchi while it remains available through the tray.- Automatic background discovery of accessible local files, with system, cache,
credential and application-data exclusions. Settings can disable discovery. - Search and launch installed applications, including VS Code aliases.
- Local Google EmbeddingGemma 2 search for documents, code, images, audio and
video. Explicit media requests stay in their requested channel; hybrid search
trims clearly separated weak tails while preserving independent keyword matches. - Highlighted source passages and a small optional “Why this result?” detail.
- Windows glass opacity previews while dragging, 40–100%, with local reading
tints. Unsupported native effects and high contrast use a solid fallback.
Validation: 184 shared Rust tests, 56 Windows desktop tests, 62 frontend tests
and 56 Linux desktop tests passed. Strict Windows Rust Clippy checks passed.
After the final startup correction, 49 service unit tests and a genuine Google
CPU query/warmup test with a held WAL writer passed. Storage is prepared before
automatic discovery; optional cache contention no longer aborts query warmup.
Actual Google CPU document/image and speech checks are recorded in the repository;
CSS opacity passed twelve theme/material/alpha combinations. Normal packages
retain acceleration and CPU fallback; the VM was tested only on CPU.Windows uninstall/reinstall and isolated-profile checks preserve user data.
The final installer is verified on the development machine. Linux is an Ubuntu
24.04 x64 preview (GLIBC 2.39); packaged CPU startup passed. Final native
hotkey/tray/glass interaction could not be fully automated because capture/input
rejected access. Clean-machine prerequisites, macOS, other Linux distributions
and real GPU qualification remain deferred.Media remains usable with limits: music identity works best with exact embedded
artist/title tags, spoken locations are estimates, and absent content can still
yield an unrelated nearest result. No perfect recognition or general no-answer
classifier is claimed. Windows installer is unsigned. Headless Linux and Windows
CLI artifacts remain available on older releases as documented in README.Downloads

2026-10-13 20:26:23 +00:00 | 7 commits to main since this releasesearchi 0.1.7 — initial release handoff
Windows desktop 0.1.7 is installed and running on Windows Dev with tray residency, login startup and Ctrl+Shift+Space. Escape/closing hides it; choose Quit in the tray to exit.
This release collects all current verified downloads and checksums:
- Windows desktop installer 0.1.7
- Optional Windows CLI/MCP archive 0.1.6
- Linux x86-64 headless archive 0.1.6, including Google and speech runtimes
- Ubuntu 24.04 desktop preview 0.1.4
The component filenames preserve their actual built versions. Extract each archive completely and follow START-HERE.txt or the README's installation-agent prompt. All four public downloads were verified against their published SHA-256 checksums.
Final Windows CPU-only checks passed: installed binary, resident/query processes, login launcher, settings/database integrity, real filename and Google speech retrieval, source verification and forged-handle rejection. Earlier genuine packaged Linux Google/speech CPU checks passed. No new product features were added during this final audit.
One normal runtime detects supported acceleration and falls back to CPU. Actual GPU, macOS, native keyboard/tray interaction, clean-machine and broader compatibility checks remain deferred. Media/speech are usable experimental features: recognition and estimated timestamps can be imperfect, and absent-content queries may still return the closest results.

searchi 0.1.6 — local speech search Pre-Release
released this
2026-10-13 19:18:46 +00:00 | 21 commits to main since this releasesearchi 0.1.6 adds searchable local speech passages to audio and video, alongside Google EmbeddingGemma 2 media, document and code search.
Install the Windows x64 setup below. Close searchi before updating. Setup downloads and verifies missing models. One normal runtime detects supported hardware and falls back to CPU. The optional CLI/MCP archive supports local agents; install desktop for model setup.
Media and speech search are usable but experimental. Recognition can be imperfect, timestamps are estimates, and absent-content queries can still return the closest results. The small independent English/German fixture found all six positive files; all four absent-content queries still returned results. This is not a broad accuracy guarantee.
Includes exact music artist/title filters. Windows VM tests used CPU only. GPU, other OS, clean-machine installation and native playback checks remain open. Installer unsigned.
Linux x86-64 headless preview 0.1.6 is also available below, including the normal Google and speech runtimes, media/document helpers and MCP. Extract the whole archive and follow START-HERE.txt. Actual packaged Google/speech retrieval passed on Ubuntu 24.04 WSL with CPU forced; the public full-byte archive checksum was verified. Linux desktop remains the separate 0.1.4 preview. GPU, macOS and clean-machine checks remain open.

searchi 0.1.5 Windows preview Pre-Release
released this
2026-10-13 16:51:52 +00:00 | 37 commits to main since this releasesearchi 0.1.5 Windows preview adds exact artist and track-title filters to the desktop, alongside shared CLI/MCP support in source. Enter complete music tags, with or without a text query. Files without matching tags stay out of results. Existing music needs another media indexing pass to populate these fields.
Google EmbeddingGemma 2 remains the local semantic model. The normal runtime includes CPU/Vulkan detection and CPU fallback; VM checks used CPU only. This is an unsigned Windows x64 preview. Linux downloads remain 0.1.4; macOS native checks are pending.
Actual Google CPU tests verify strict constraints, metadata-only lookup without inference, same-stat invalidation, reindexing and deletion. The extracted installer starts with its bundled genuine Google CPU query worker. Native visual/keyboard/playback and clean-machine checks remain open.
Media remains experimental: precise speech timestamps and general no-answer rejection are not solved. Experimental music metadata ranking is not enabled in this release.

Find what matters. Locally.
This update rejects incomplete or filtered responses from optional OpenAI-compatible summaries instead of presenting them as finished answers. Ordinary search remains local; optional summaries stay disabled until configured and explicitly requested.
Download searchi_0.1.2_x64-setup.exe and the SHA256SUMS file. This is the normal hardware-detecting Windows x64 package with CPU fallback. Windows VM validation used CPU only.
57 frontend and 35 native desktop tests passed. An isolated extracted package verified 39 file hashes, genuine Google indexing and duplicate-launch handling. Native visual interaction, clean-machine installation, upgrade, signing and physical GPU tests remain open. This is an unsigned preview.
Optional Windows CLI/MCP and Ubuntu 24.04 Linux headless preview remain available on the earlier releases; their component version is 0.1.0. Your existing installation is not automatically upgraded.

searchi 0.1.1 — Windows Pre-Release
released this
2026-10-13 10:14:01 +00:00 | 109 commits to main since this releasesearchi — Find what matters. Locally.
Windows x64 update: opening searchi again now brings the existing window forward instead of starting another desktop/model session. Explicit isolated profiles remain independent.
Download
searchi_0.1.1_x64-setup.exeand verify it againstSHA256SUMS-0.1.1.txt. Close the running app before installing an update. Your selected folders, settings and index are retained; this release does not change their storage schema. The normal runtime includes hardware detection, Vulkan support and CPU fallback. Google EmbeddingGemma 2 model files are downloaded and verified by the desktop when missing. Cached files are reused.
Validation: 57 frontend tests and 35 native desktop tests passed. All 39 files in the corresponding local runtime archive were checksum-verified. An isolated Windows launch on CPU created a genuine Google semantic generation (two chunks, 768 dimensions); a duplicate launch exited successfully while the original test app remained alive. Owned test processes were then cleaned up. Native visual focus/restoration is not verified. The installer was built, but this update has not been installed over the currently running user app.
This remains an unsigned early Windows release. Media relevance is experimental. macOS/Linux packages, real GPU execution and broader clean-machine/platform tests remain follow-up work.
For local agents, the separately tested optional CLI/MCP executable and CLI checksum remain available. See the agent setup guide. They use the desktop's runtime, verified model cache and existing index.

searchi-headless_0.1.0_linux-x86_64.tar.xzandLINUX-SHA256SUMS.txtare now available. This CLI/MCP package includes the normal Google runtime and media helpers. It was checked on Ubuntu 24.04 WSL using CPU, with genuine document/code/audio indexing, semantic search, citations and strict filters. Requires compatible GLIBC 2.39, GLIBCXX 3.4.32 and CXXABI 1.3.13 runtime versions. Older distributions, clean-machine coverage and real GPU execution remain unverified. It is not a Linux desktop package. See headless installation and evidence.Downloads
