Press Ctrl + Shift + Space on Windows. Type to reveal results and previews;
Escape hides searchi while it remains available through the tray.- Automatic background discovery of accessible local files, with system, cache,
credential and application-data exclusions. Settings can disable discovery. - Search and launch installed applications, including VS Code aliases.
- Local Google EmbeddingGemma 2 search for documents, code, images, audio and
video. Explicit media requests stay in their requested channel; hybrid search
trims clearly separated weak tails while preserving independent keyword matches. - Highlighted source passages and a small optional “Why this result?” detail.
- Windows glass opacity previews while dragging, 40–100%, with local reading
tints. Unsupported native effects and high contrast use a solid fallback.
Validation: 184 shared Rust tests, 56 Windows desktop tests, 62 frontend tests
and 56 Linux desktop tests passed. Strict Windows Rust Clippy checks passed.
After the final startup correction, 49 service unit tests and a genuine Google
CPU query/warmup test with a held WAL writer passed. Storage is prepared before
automatic discovery; optional cache contention no longer aborts query warmup.
Actual Google CPU document/image and speech checks are recorded in the repository;
CSS opacity passed twelve theme/material/alpha combinations. Normal packages
retain acceleration and CPU fallback; the VM was tested only on CPU.Windows uninstall/reinstall and isolated-profile checks preserve user data.
The final installer is verified on the development machine. Linux is an Ubuntu
24.04 x64 preview (GLIBC 2.39); packaged CPU startup passed. Final native
hotkey/tray/glass interaction could not be fully automated because capture/input
rejected access. Clean-machine prerequisites, macOS, other Linux distributions
and real GPU qualification remain deferred.Media remains usable with limits: music identity works best with exact embedded
artist/title tags, spoken locations are estimates, and absent content can still
yield an unrelated nearest result. No perfect recognition or general no-answer
classifier is claimed. Windows installer is unsigned. Headless Linux and Windows
CLI artifacts remain available on older releases as documented in README.Downloads
